One First Week in Rockport

Our first few days in Rockport have been very pleasant. The temps were around 80° so we are happy campers :)

As we settled in and became familiar with our surroundings, we found the grocery, post office etc. Our campground is located midway between Rockport and Aransas Pass so we have 2 of each to pick from :) One day we can turn right and go to Aransas Pass, the next left and go to Rockport :) It's always nice to have variety :)

One day, we headed over to Beach Park. It was 80 that day and it just seemed like a good day to walk the beach, one of my very favorite things to do. We purchased an annual parking pass ($10/year or $4 for one day). That was an easy decision :) I know we'll be back many times.

We parked on the far end of the park and started our walk.

There were very few other beach goers/walkers that day.

There were some very beautiful homes over there :)

A couple of the “locals” giving us the eye :)

Thursday night, we joined some of the neighbors at the Rec Hall for "Popcorn and Movie" night. It was fun. We watched "The Blind Side" with Sandra Bullock. It was very good. They supplied the popcorn and everyone brought their own drink. This was the first time I'd ever seen a redneck wine glass! Have you seen one of those? I wish I had taken a picture, but it's basically a Mason jar with a stem :) I borrowed this photo from Amazon :) It was too funny.

Last night, we tried a local Chinese Buffet, China A, and found it to be quite good. They had a large selection of food including shrimp, snow crab legs and, much to Rick's delight, oysters on the half shell. (Sorry, no food pictures) Everything was fresh and hot, just the way I like it. We don't go out to eat often and lately, we've been trying to eat healthier so we prefer to cook at home. But every once in awhile, we just get a craving for something that we don't have to make ourselves :) That's when we splurge. I think a long walk will be in order today. I'm still full :)

Have a great Sunday and thanks for stopping by.Turtle

  1. Looks like you have found a nice Winter Home!! Love the beach photos and OHHHHHH that temperature:o))

I believe that redneck wine glass may be something the Carolina Clan needs to check out ;o))

Keep checking things out for us... I know our time is coming!!!

  2. We really enjoyed that area. We have the beach where we are now but not the temperature. When we were workamping in West, TX this summer one of my friends in the campground gave me a redneck wine glass.

  3. Love those beach pictures. Sounds like you are settling in very well and liking what you've found. That's great!

  4. gorgeous park and great beach the wine glass..I purchased a couple for christmas gifts this year..filled them with candy before I wrapped them :) have a super week

  5. Great place to land for a while. Nothing better than being close to the ocean.

Got a good laugh out of that redneck wine glass. :c)

  6. Looks so nice Mom! I'm glad you're having a nice time! And the redneck wine glass is hilarious!

  7. Those pictures brought back fond memories of our time there. Did not see a pic of the rockport clam shell, hope it is still there.

  8. That stretch of sand looks like my kind of beach -- plenty of solitude and a nice walkin spot.

  9. Ahhhh -- the beach is always so relaxing. And those temps sound heavenly!

  10. Looks great - hope the weather holds till we get there!

  11. Ahhhh - I can't complain about the temps here but would love the 80s! Looks like you are enjoying yourselves! I have seen the redneck wine glass (are you surprised!!??!!) hahaha
    Merry Christmas!

  12. Beautiful looking spot - love that beach and pier.
