Greek Fest!

In all the time we lived in the Raleigh/Durham area, we never made it to the Greek Fest held at the NC State Fairgrounds. We intended to go, several times, but never quite made it.

One of the perks of coming back here was the unexpected surprise of the Greek Fest! Right here! While we were here! Hard to turn that down.

This was the 30th Annual Greek Fest. Maybe it was meant to be…30 years. Anything less wouldn’t have been as sweet :)

The “hike” to the Greek Fest was all of a couple blocks from where we are located. We left Lucy on Friday afternoon at 4:00, hiked down the road, and there we were!

This is a pretty big deal. There was art.

  4. Judy, I should have thought to list the food! Sorry. There was Greek meatballs, Greek olives, tomato wedges with cubed feta cheese, what I thought was sweet yellow peppers but turned out to be hot yellow peppers :), stuffed grape leaves and the item in the middle is spanakopita which is like a spinach pie.

This was their Sampler Plate; a little bit of everything.

  6. We used to go every year to the Greek Festival in Charlottesville, Virginia. Great Dancing and Singing and fabulous food. We went twice....once in the morning to pick up pastries before they were all gone. They must have had at least 20 different things. Oh YUM! And then again for lunch or dinner. It was definitely a foodie's delight! So glad you got to go.
