Indianapolis, Indiana, Another Family Visit :)

Indianapolis, home of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Indianapolis Colts, Indiana Pacers, Indianapolis Indians (triple A baseball team affiliated with the Pittsburgh Pirates) and many other attractions, museums, galleries and restaurants. This is a busy city and there is enough to keep a tourist busy for quite a few days. However, that is not us-at least not this time! :)  Everywhere we looked, we were met with road construction!

We arrived at Lake Haven Retreat in Indianapolis on Tuesday afternoon. After getting set up, we started preparing for our dinner guests. Our reason for visiting Indianapolis was purely personal. We came here to visit Rick’s sister, Louise, and her husband Glenn. It has been several years since we’ve seen Louise and, although Rick had met Glenn once, I had not. We had a wonderful time catching up and getting acquainted. Rick grilled zucchini and pork chops, I made a baked potato dish and sliced a fresh tomato, Louise and Glenn brought a pineapple upside down cake for dessert. The food was yummy but the company was wonderful. We were so glad they were able to join us! Hopefully, it won’t be so long next time.

Louise told us that there was construction throughout Indianapolis, but we thought we’d drive around a bit today and see the sights. This is what we saw…

And this…

But we also saw this…

And this…

And this… :)

Eventually, Indianapolis will have ALL new roads, I’m certain :)

Tomorrow, we leave Indianapolis for a new state to us, Kentucky. We will be staying in the Frankfort area and look forward to a few days of new exploring.

Thanks for stopping by.

  1. Welcome to Indy! I sure wish we could meet as you head south! We are in the Greenwood area just of I 65!

It is so frustrating to see people whiz past us as we sit stationary for the summer..... you lucky dogs, you!

While in KY, you might want to tour some of the back roads outside Frankfort and see the magnificent horse farms.

Also, there is an Arts and Crafts Center on I 64 as you approach Berea. Berea is a good town to visit, if you are going that way.

    Have a safe trip!

  2. After reading this post, I do not feel guilty about avoiding Indianapolis.

We really enjoyed Frankfort during our visit in June. It was a great place to visit. Enjoy!

  3. You guys are doing a great job of visiting all the family. Please don't let mine know or they will be upset.

Are you aiming for any place in particular as you move into Kentucky? I've never been to Frankfort so I'll be learning a lot of new things from you. I've been to Indianapolis and it wasn't a fave.

I would love to hear from you! Please leave a comment.
