Stoneledge

Just 5 miles south of Plattsburgh NY on Route 9 is the Stoneledge Sculpture Garden. We are in the area this week visiting family and happened upon this garden our first day here. We were able to pull over, wander the grounds and, before leaving, sign the guestbook kept behind the hanging sign.

This garden was started in July 1994 as a place for sculpture students from nearby SUNY Plattsburgh to exhibit their large scale works.

The grounds were freshly mowed when we arrived, but the trimming had not yet been completed, as you can tell on some the pictures. (Click to enlarge)

Over the years, the garden has become the home to many works. Many are for sale so the artwork changes periodically.

Classic, modern, large and small. Very cool!

The garden operates under the direction of Jackie and Dick Sabourin.

It was definitely worth the stop and a great way to spend part of the afternoon.

  1. Very cool sculptures. I especially like the Last Supper and the Indian Brave. I can't imagine the amount of time it must take to complete one.

  4. Loved the sculpture garden, and all the GREEN grass and trees! Spring has come to your part of the world, for sure. I have a friend in Plattsburgh and she never mentioned the sculptures. Nice post
