What a fun time we had Tuesday, the first day of the rally. We met old friends that we had met last year and new friends that will become old friends :) I have to say, it was so nice to hear people say, Oh, Gypsy Turtles, I follow your blog! :) How cool is that? ? ? I never, ever thought anyone other than my family would be in the least bit interested in what I had to say!
Rally registration began at 2:00. We arrived to get a big hug from Howard, then on to the registration line where we also got hugs from Bill and Nancy of Nancy and Bill :) We met Nancy and Bill at last years rally and let me tell you, if you want to see a couple dance like they’ve been doing it forever, these 2 are your couple! All I can say is Wow! As we moved down the line, we got to meet Laura Raber, who found us through the RV Dreams forum and the blog. Laura has become a friend before we even had the opportunity to meet in person. I hope we’ll be able to spend some time together this week and get to know each other. Then Gin and Syl were also working the check in. We met them last year at the rally after I discovered their blog. It was really good to see them again. They, too, are from North Carolina :)
Once we registered, we came back to the coach for awhile. We were expecting Bill and Janet Adams for Happy Hour before dinner. Howard and Linda had matched up several experienced fulltimers with novice fulltimers as a trial on mentoring to see how successful it would be. Bill and Janet were matched with us and we thought we would get together before dinner for a little chat to get to know each other. We had a drink together,we showed them our coach and we visited until dinner time. They are a very fun couple and we hope to be able to visit with them again before the rally ends.
Once we arrived for dinner, we ran into Renea & Wayne Joiner on our way in. We had met the Joiners at the rally last year. We met several new people at dinner and I have to apologize for forgetting many of the names. Once dinner was over, we played a form of “minute to win it”. Our version involved caps with tea bags attached and trying to get the tea bags onto the brim of the cap. Our team had the overall winner, George Owen, who could really wack those teabags! :)
We spent the rest of the evening chatting with Terri and Mike Young and Jim and Linda Smith.
Here are some random pictures…Most being people trying to get those darn teabags on the brim of the hat! :)
We made it back home in plenty of time to watch “The Good Wife”, one of my favorites.
Tomorrow starts the first full day of seminars. Because we’ve been to most of them before, we won’t feel badly if we don’t get up early and make the 8:00 AM one!
Until next time, thanks for stopping by.
