Tornados, Thunderstorms and a Scary Weather Day

Storms don’t normally scare me. In fact, I love a good thunderstorm. Today, was different. The weather radio was working overtime, the TV radar showed ominous storms and tornado touch-downs. The view out our window was scary.
We kept one eye on the sky and another on the TV.
Then, the sirens started blowing. Well, for the first time in my life, I didn’t want to stand at the window and watch. We grabbed  our phones, chargers, the camera and the SD card for our computer backup and got the hell out of there!
We and several of our neighbors, holed up in the men’s bathroom. It’s a nice solid concrete block building with a concrete roof. We remained there until the sky cleared. The rain still pelted but the warnings were lifted.
It was a lucky day for all of us. The news is full of reports of people losing their homes, their cars. Luckily no one lost their life.
And, we got to meet several people we might not otherwise have met. Yes, a lucky day all around.

  1. Mother Nature can be real scary sometimes!!

Glad all of you are safe and sound!

  2. You did the smart thing to find suitable shelter rather than staying in your rig. Everything can be replaced except you!

  3. Scary Mom! So glad you are ok!!!!! We've been having a lot of that kind of weather too. Got your post on my excited to see you in just a few weeks :)
    I love you both!

  4. Good call! Are you still in Gulf Shores? You sure have the right attitude.

  5. Very scary! Glad you made it through the storm ok.
The storm wasn't quite as bad where we were- just heavy rain and thunderstorms, but we did lose power for a couple of hours.

  6. I'm the same way, I love a good storm but those were indeed scary clouds. We had similar weather here, but thankfully without sirens or actual tornado warnings. Just found your blog today and enjoyed reading about your travels!

I would love to hear from you! Please leave a comment.
