Home again, home again

We left for home this morning...only to be stopped in our tracks by a huge rock slide! The I-40 was closed at the TN/NC border and we had to detour north in TN and then come back south in NC. The leaves were at their peak this weekend and it was an absolutely gorgeous detour!
This is a bad photo. My only option was to shoot through the windshield....not the best solution. The colors were so much more brilliant than this shows.

A few cute grandkid pics while we're at it :)

I love these kids dearly and I love spending time with them. It sure is nice to sleep in my own bed again though! :)

A day at the Science Center

We took Pockey to the airport this morning and then headed for the Pizza Hut buffet and the Science Center. What fun! I'm sure all of us could have stayed until tomorrow!

Snow in October!

We left Wisconsin today to return to NC, do laundry, repack and head to Nashville to meet our new granddaughter. We got up in the morning and it was snowing! We headed for MSP and it snowed harder. By the time we reached MN, there was about 3-4" on the ground! That's way too early, even for the midwest!

Happy Birthday Grandma Joan!

Happy 80th Birthday Mom! Hope you have many more.

We all went out to dinner to celebrate and most had a very delicious prime rib. Attendees included Mom, Rick and I, Randy and Ree, Sheila and Vern, Randy and Kathy, Jen and Matt plus 4 :)

We also celebrated Mya's 4th birthday which was October 9th. This week in October is prolific with family birthdays now. Sabrina on the 8th, Mya on the 9th and Mom on the 10th.

Sabrina Rose

This morning at the ungodly hour of 4:00 AM, we left for the airport to fly to MSP. From there the plan was to rent a car and drive to my mom's house in Willard, Wi for a long weekend in celebration of her 80th birthday. We were up at 2:45 (couldn't sleep) and out of the house in plenty of time. The flight was uneventful. We landed a few minutes late and started the trek to the Alamo counter-the equivalent of 7.5 miles-or so it seemed :)

Just before reaching the rental car area, my cell phone rang. It was son-in-law Thomas informing us that, while we were boarding our flight, daughter Carrie delivered their baby in the front seat of their van while he raced to the hospital and the other 3 kids watched! Quite dramatic! Mom and baby are doing well and so are Dad and sibs. Sabrina Rose arrived at 5:11 AM central time weighing in at 7# 6.25 oz. and measuring 19" long. She has a full head of black hair and she's just beautiful. Labor lasted less than 1 hour. Many moms would be jealous of that!

Bye Bye Treadmill, Bye Bye Bow Flex

In our effort to downsize and get rid of "stuff", we've decided to use Craigslist. As a test, I listed 3 cases of shipping labels for free yesterday (Friday) morning...had 11 responses in an hour! They were picked up shortly thereafter. Once that was complete, I listed the Bow flex and the Nordic Track treadmill. The response was amazing. The Bow flex was gone last night and the treadmill today. Both were priced to sell but it was still surprising to get that kind of response. Lesson learned: It's almost a full time job to list and respond and make appointments and show etc. Guess I'll stay busy :)
We leave Thursday early morning for Wisconsin to wish Mom a happy 80th. From there we go to Nashville to meet our new grandchild (who is scheduled to arrive on Friday by induction). I'll stay for a couple weeks and Rick will return home alone. No more sales until later in October once we're both back home.
They say ridding yourself of "stuff" is liberating and I totally get it. Just getting rid of the first 2 things is exciting. It makes me want to continue! That will just have to wait for short time :)
